This piece specifically focused on the movement of different cultures through time in a physical and multi layered, implied meaning. By turning the crank the individual cultures as represented by knife blades, move side to side and up and down at different rates. This movement represent the cultures interacting with each other, moving against each other, clashing, moving apart, rising in power, or the falling in power that occurs through the course of time. The round shapes represents the earth while the time element is represented by the gears inside hinting to the old saying that, “the world runs on clockwork”.
